England's Football Association on Friday, June 16 confirmed that the Community Shield will be held at the Wembley Stadium in London on August 6. Premier League champions Manchester City will take on runners-up Arsenal in the curtain-raiser to the 2023-24 season.

Manchester City went on to win the treble, completing the trio of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League titles last season. Arsenal finished 2nd in the league table with 5 points fewer than Pep Guardiola's side.

The Community Shield returns to the traditional home of Wembley Stadium in its 100th anniversary year and will get underway at 5:30 pm BST. Last year, the Community Shield between City and Liverpool was played at Leicester City's King Power Stadium as the women's European Championship final was scheduled over the same weekend at

Wembley.

Liverpool had begun the season on a high, beating City 3-1 but their season went off the track with Jurgen Klopp's men finishing 5th, 22 points behind City.

The Community Shield will be held 5 days before the Premier League season opener. Manchester City will take on newly-promoted Burnley in the opening match of the league season on August 11.

Arsenal will make their 24th appearance in the Community Shield, which has been in existence since 1908. Arsenal have won the Shield on 16 occasions, including the 1991 final when they shared the silverware with Tottenham Hotspur following a goalless draw.

Arsenal last won the FA Shield in 2020 when as FA Cup holders, Mikel Arteta’s team defeated league champions Liverpool on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
