Spain and Portugal advanced to the Round of 16 on Tuesday.In tough Group B competitions, while Morocco held Spain 2-2, Iran held Portugal one-one. 

At Kaliningrad, Morocco almost created a big upset by taking the lead in the 14th minute, before Spain restored parity five minutes later. 
Morocco led for the second time with a 81st minute goal. But Iago Aspas scored in second-half injury time to avoid an embarrassing defeat for Spain. 

In the encounter at Saransk, though Iran held Portugal to a draw, they could not stop the reigning European champions from progressing to the pre-quarter-finals. 

Both Spain and Portugal finished the group stage with five points, but Spain topped the Group on better goal difference.



In the Group A fixture at Samara, Uruguay beat Russia by 3-nil. 

In the Round of Sixteen stage, Portugal will face Uruguay in Sochi on Saturday, while Spain will take on hosts Russia in Moscow. 

Meanwhile, four matches are scheduled for today. In the first two Group C encounters, to be played simultaneously at 7.30 p.m., Australia will meet Peru at in Sochi, while Denmark will face France in Moscow. 

In other two fixtures in Group D, also to be played simultaneously at 11.30 p.m., Nigeria are pitted against Argentina at Saint Petersburg, while Iceland will play against Croatia at Rostov-on-Don. Croatia have already booked their last sixteen berth by securing six points.
