India defeated New Zealand by six runs in the third and final ODI to win the three-match series 2-1, here today. Opener Rohit Sharma slammed 147 and skipper Virat Kohli made 113.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's double-century stand set up the hosts' total of 337 for six in their 50 overs, with New Zealand replying with 331 for seven. Chasing the target, the Kiwis, who looked like favourites with 35 runs required from the last 24 balls, ended six-run short despite Latham’s 65 of 52 balls. While defending the total, Indian bowlers dished out an ordinary bowling performance throughout the match but bounced back in

the final three overs, when it mattered the most.

Required to defend 15 runs in the final over, Jasprit Bumrah conceded only eight runs in the 50th over. He bagged 3 wickets spending only 47 runs, with 32 dot balls in his 10-over spell. With this thrilling win, New Zealand's wait for their maiden ODI series win in India continued.

India and New Zealand will also play three Twenty20 matches, the first of which will be held at Feroz Shah Kotla grounds in Delhi on Wednesday.

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of three for 47.
