England beat India by 118 runs in the fifth and final cricket Test to wrap up the series 4-1 at the Oval in London last night. Chasing a mammoth target of 464 runs, India were all out for 345 runs on the last day of the match.

Earlier, KL Rahul scoring 149 runs and Rishabh Pant 114 raised the visions of an improbable victory before Adil Rashid taking 2 wickets for 63 in 15 overs dashed their



hopes with a twin blow.

For England, James Anderson who took 3 wickets also surpassed Glenn McGrath as the highest wicket- taking pacer in Test match history. Alastair Cook was adjudged player of the match.

The Scores: England made 332 in the first innings and 423 for 8 in the second. India amassed 292 runs in the first innings and was all out at 345 in the second innings.
