Eoin Morgan’s magnificent unbeaten 80 and two wickets from Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez helped Peshawar Zalmi thrash Karachi Kings by seven wickets in the Pakistan Super League encounter in Dubai on Friday.

Peshawar won the toss and chose to bowl. Immediately, Karachi Kings were in huge trouble as they were reduced to 12/4, with Chris Gayle (2) and Kumar Sangakkara (5) falling cheaply.

In response, Peshawar also started poorly as they lost the wickets of Hafeez (0) and Kamran Akmal (0)

cheaply. Although David Malan hit out with 22 off 20 balls, at 48/3 after nine overs, the situation was evenly poised. Karachi Kings were maintaining the pressure and with 47 needed off 36 balls, it seemed Karachi had the game in their hands but Morgan changed the situation.

The England limited-overs skipper launched Abrar Ahmed for a six but the match turned in the 16th over when he blasted two fours and a six off Shoaib Malik in an over that fetched 19 runs. Peshawar calmly marched on and registered a seven-wicket win to get two vital points after their loss to Islamabad United in the opening encounter of the PSL.
