All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that the Prime Minister was taking credit for the decision taken by Haj authorities of Saudi Arabia to allow women above 45 years to perform Haj, but in a group of four or more. “Many women from Malaysia and Indonesia above 45 years are doing Haj without ‘maharam’ if they travel in group,” said the Hyderabad parliamentarian on Monday.

He also said that if the prime minster wants to do good to the women from Muslim community, he should give them seven percent reservation to them in education, they can do it as they have two third majorities in parliament.“If prime minster wants to good he should also provide Zakia Jafri, widow of former MP Ehsan Jafri with justice,” the comment was made pointing out towards the Gujarat riots (2002).

All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) secretary Maulana Abdul Hamid Azhari said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not pass such statement as it is a religious issue.

Speaking at Mann Ki Baat on Sunday Prime Minister said that the government has removed the policy pertaining to Muslim women above 45 years performing Haj only in the presence of male guardian.
