Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said his party would provide education kits to more than 14,000 students of 90 Government Urdu Medium Schools in eight Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad.

He inaugurated a two day kit distribution programme at Darussalam and said, since 2005, his party has been providing education kits to government schools to address the issue of dropouts in Urdu medium schools and this year, kits worth Rs 46 lakh were being provided.

“We had extended this scheme started by Late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi and now our party is also giving bags, note books, compass boxes to the students in Telangana,” he said.

Every year, the party also pays the exam fee of tenth class students and those who secured distinction in exam are encouraged with cash prizes up to Rs 5000, said Owaisi. Due to poverty many students were not able to buy books and bags, he added.
