The Telangana government is all set to fill over 8,900 vacant teacher posts in government-run schools. The Telangana school education department issued a government order for direct recruitment on Tuesday

According to government order no 25, the rules apply for all categories of teacher posts in government schools, Zilla Praja Parishad schools and Mandal Praja Parishad schools. The move comes after a delay of three years which led to protests among unemployed youth, who were waiting for the recruitment process.

According to officials, the TSPSC shall conduct a teacher recruitment test (TRT), for which a separate notification shall be issued in the next few days. “Out of the total marks of teacher recruitment test (TRT), 20% weight shall be for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) score for all the posts, except for School Assistant (Physical Education) and Physical Education Teacher,“ reads the GO, adding that the scores secured in Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET), Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TSTET) and Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be considered as per the qualifying marks decided by the government for each exam.

The GO further states that the number of candidates selected shall be equivalent to the number of vacancies notified. “There shall be no waiting list and posts if any unfilled for any reason, whatsoever shall be carried forward for future recruitment,“ the GO reads.Subsequently , the TSPSC shall conduct counselling process of selected candidates.“Detailed guidelines regarding the counselling procedures etc, will be issued separately,“ the GO added.
