Hyderabad: A 32-year-old government teacher, Jyoti, died by suicide after poisoning her two sons, Borabanda police said on Friday morning. The two children, Arjun, 6, and Aditya, 2, were said to be having health issues right from their birth and the family was facing debts.

Police said she was facing immense everyday challenges in taking care of the children. At about 8 am on Friday, Jyoti allegedly mixed insecticide in milk and gave it to her sons. Soon after their death, she took the extreme step in another room.

According to west zone DCP Joel Davis, Aditya had



been struggling with speech development issues which became noticeable when he turned six, while Arjun had not started walking. The family had taken the children to many hospitals, and was heavily in debt.

Police said her husband Vijay, a centering worker, returned to the house after running an errand and saw the bodies. He attempted to die by suicide. Neighbours and family members immediately shifted him to a hospital, where he is stable.

A case has been registered by the police and investigation is underway.
