Cricket betting racket busted in Hyderabad

The Commissioner’s Task Force (east) team busted a cricket betting racket and nabbed five persons. A television, 14 mobile phones and Rs.1.25 lakh were seized from them. Acting on a tip off, the police raided a house at Esamia Bazaar in Sultan Bazaar where M. Santosh (45) of Kachiguda was accepting bets on the fifth one day international cricket match between Australia and India at Sydney.

appointed M Vinod and Shyam Sunder Kasat on a salary of Rs. 8,000 a month. They were assigned the task of taking phone calls from punters and noting down betting rates. Santosh received the betting ratio information from Agarwal of Delhi,” Additional DCP Task Force, N Koti Reddy said. Following the raid, the police caught, Santosh, Vinod, Shyam along with two punters Arun Sharma and Ashish Agarwal.
