Chittagong : Mastermind of 4 women rape, robbery held

Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on Wednesday night arrested the mastermind of the incident where four women of a family were raped during a burglary in Karnaphuli area of the port city on December 12.

The arrestee was identified as Abdul Hannan alias Hannan Member, hailing from Karnaphuli, UNB reports.

Following the statement of Abu Sama, one of the prime accused in the case, PBI arrested Hannan from in front of the Kotwali Police Station around 8pm tracking his mobile phone, said Additional Police

Earlier, Sama made his deposition before a Chittagong court naming Hannan as the mastermind of the robbery.

According to Sama, Hannan managed five people for committing the robbery but he was absent during the burglary.

Sama also told the court that he received Tk 21,000 as his share from the sale of looted goods, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Nirmalendu Bikash Chakraborty.
