Cab driver held for raping daughters

The Cyberabad police on Friday arrested a 42-year-old cab driver for allegedly raping his two daughters.According to the police, Kukutla Srinivas — a resident of Langar Houz — was married to K Sathyarani, 30, and the couple had two daughters. But the two separated after his wife learnt that Srinivas was earlier married to one Kalpana with whom he had a son. Sathyarani moved out with the daughters and started to live at Chaitanya in Hyderguda.
Rajendranagar Inspector V Umender said Srinivas started to meet the girls when they were studying at his native village, Mandapet, in East Godavari district. “They lived in a private hostel near their college and he used to visit them regularly,” Umender said.
The girls told their mother that Srinivas used to physically torture them, after which Sathyarani brought them back to the city and

enrolled them in a private college here, the Inspector said. But this did not stop Srinivas from visiting them. There were times when he even stayed at their house for days and allegedly raped the girls after Sathyarani slept, Umender said.
Sathyarani got to know about this after she had a tiff with Srinivas and he left the house. It was her younger daughter who narrated the entire episode to her – right from the time when he raped them at the private hostel in Mandapet. To make things worse, Srinivas threatened to kill the girls if they told anyone about it, Umender said.
The police registered a case under Section 376 (2) (f) (i) of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO). They arrested Srinivas and produced him before a local court, after which he was remanded in judicial custody.
