Flipkart bought eBay’s India arm in April, 2017 in order to take on Amazon and now it has been confirmed that Flipkart has shut down eBay India’s operation and now the platform will no longer take any orders from the buyers. The last date for raising any refunds or claims from eBay will be August 30 for any transaction.

According to reports, eBay India will not accept any orders from August 14, 2018 (Tuesday) while the all the orders placed on the Flipkart-owned platform have been protected under the eBay Guarantee policy. However, as mentioned above, the last date of raising any refunds or claims from eBay will be August 30 while refunds from eBay India will be processed as per the earlier timelines.

On the other hand, warranty for every product ordered through the platform will remain valid until the earlier stated timeline but for that eBay India will keep an archive of all such products sold on My PaisaPay and My eBay for future reference.

Meanwhile, all the

eBay accounts won’t be valid from now on and users will also have an option to switch to Flipkart by making a new account. That said, this development comes on the heels of Flipkart teasing a new platform which will replace eBay and while not much has been known about this new e-commerce platform from Flipkart, the company's CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy already informed its employees last month that the company has built a new e-commerce platform to start selling its refurbished goods.

"Based on our learnings at eBay.in, we have built a brand new value platform launching with refurbished goods - a large market which is predominantly unorganised. With Flipkart's customer base, and F1 Info solutions & services in our group portfolio, I believe that we can solve the key barriers to refurbished - trust & convenience - at scale. We will keep evolving and bringing newer formats, categories, and features which cater to the needs of our value-conscious middle India," said Kalyan Krishnamurthy in an email to eBay employees.
