Singer Sonu Nigam raked a storm on social media earlier this week after he went on to tweet about the’ forced religiousness’ and asserted how he was woken up from his sleep with the sound of the azaan from the loudspeakers. Offended by his statement over Azaan and Islam, Vice President of West Bengal Minority United Council Syed Sha Atef Ali Quaderi issued a fatwa and affirmed that he would give Rs 10 Lakh to anyone who would shave Sonu Nigam’s head and put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck.

To everyone’s surprise, Sonu Nigam responded and asked the cleric to keep Rs 10 lakh ready. As the war of words between the cleric and Sonu Nigam continue to rise, the cleric has now claimed that he is the 35th descendent of the prophet of Islam. According to reports, the cleric has “the 35th descendent of the Holy

Prophet of Islam’’ inscribed on his visiting card.

He has also claimed that his father was “is a direct descendant of the Prophet.” He further asserted that he his stand on Sonu Nigam was his personal opinion.

Yesterday, Sonu Nigam addressed a press conference to explain his stand on the issue and asserted that he did not intend to take a dig on any religion but was only pointing out the issue of loudspeakers. Sonu Nigam even went on to shave his head. However, the cleric said that Sonu had only partially completed the demands and only 1 out of 3 demands were met. “Sonu Nigam has not done all the things I asked for, two out of the three things remain unfulfilled. Will give reward of 10 lakh, only when he does rest two-garland of old torn shoes and tour around the country,” he said.
