Trump, Merkel discuss Afghanistan by phone: White House

US President Donald Trump spoke to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and discussed the Ukraine conflict and the situation in Afghanistan. The White House said this in a statement after a telephonic conversation between the two leaders yesterday.

It said, the leaders discussed several issues of mutual interest.

The Trump administration is currently in the process of reviewing its policy on Afghanistan, where the US has over 8,000 troops on the ground.
