Hyderabad Literary Festival starts on January 27 and will be on till 29. The venue, like the last year, is Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Begumpet. Entry to the three-day mega event is free and open to all. The inauguration of the lit fest will be done on January 27 morning.
HLF focuses on a guest edition every year, and this year they have chosen Philippines. A host of writers and artistes have been invited. Attending the literary event will be 14 writers and artistes from the country like: Victor Emmanuel Carmelo Nadera Jr, Nelia Baloga, Luna Sicat Cleto and others. Writers from other nations like Australia, China, Germany, Portugal, Spain, UK, US and Wales are also invited. 
There will be talks, readings, workshops,



performances, stage-talks and more. In all, there will be 100 speakers and 120 events. The language of focus this year is Tamil. The lit fest is also paying tribute to three legendary creative women of India – Mahasweta Devi, MS Subbulakshmi and Chandralekha. One of the festival directors Amita Desai added, “We are also going to hold a session on biography of late Jayalalitha.”
There will be poetry sessions for those who love this highest form of literature as celebrated Indian poets Arundhathi Subramaniam and Tishani Doshi. There will also be poetry readings in Gaelic and Welsh.It’s interesting to see inclusion of differently-abled finding space in many of the events. There will be performances by the transgender community.
