The GHMC has finally started cracking down on illegal constructions, encroachments on nalas and dilapidated buildings. On Monday, the GHMC has demolished 26 illegal constructions and 13 dilapidated buildings. To avoid any kind of law and order problem, the GHMC took the help of Tahsildars and police. The demolition committee held a review meeting in all the Circle Offices before starting the drive.
The demolition took place in Serilingampally, Gachibowli to Kothaguda and Madinaguda areas. Buildings constructed on the nala from Huda Sagar to Errakunta, Pallecheruvu and Bandalguda nala, Madinaguda circle number 12. 
Among other places where the demolition took place are constructions at Fox Sagar Lake in Quthbullapur Circle, at Nampally Exhibition Grounds near Ajanta Gate that falls under Circle 8 limits,



at Kukatpally, Mailardevpally, Begum Bazaar, Uppal, Kapra Lake, LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, Alwal and also the constructions at Banjara Function hall.
According to GHMC, the demolitions included 13 dilapidated buildings, eight unauthorised constructions on nalas, three unauthorised constructions on lakes, 15 unauthorised (illegal & extra floors) constructions.The officers from HMWS&SB (Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Services & Sewerage Board), Electricity and Engineering including local representatives of those areas participated in the demolition drive. 
“The Supreme Court and High Court have already given directions to take up the demolitions of illegal constructions.  Demolition of dilapidated and encroached buildings will continue,” said GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy.
