The bills containing reservations for Muslims and STs have reached Law Dept. which were sent by the Governor of A.P. and Telangana, E.S.L. Narasimhan. After receiving the nod from Law Dept., these bills will be sent to Central Govt.

It may be recalled that in a special session of Telangana Assembly and Council held on 16th April, these bills were passed unanimously for providing 12% reservation to Muslims and 10% to STs which was promised by KCR during the election campaign.

CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR contradicted the charges that Muslims are being given reservations on the basis of religion. He said that on the recommendations of BCs Commission, 8% reservations have been added to the

existing reservation of 4% to Muslims under BC-E on the basis of their economic backwardness.

It may be mentioned that recently the relationship of Center and Telangana has been congenial. Telangana was the first State to approve GST bill. Mr. KCR was the first CM who supported demonetization. During his recent visit to New Delhi, Mr. KCR requested Mr. Modi to accord permission for these bills. The Center has also agreed to allot Secunderabad Parade Ground for the proposed construction of State Secretariat. TRS Govt. believes that Center would extend its cooperation for these bills and would make a recommendation to the President for their inclusion in the IX Schedule of Constitution.
