Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav on Thursday said that 40 fish markets would be constructed in districts to enable fishermen sell their produce.As the fish produce is expected in a couple of months, we are taking steps for markets to be put in place, he said. Besides spending Rs 15 crore for developing fish markets at Begum Bazar and Monda Market, he said that they were planning to construct 100 more markets in



future.
While the previous government allotted only Rs 1 cr for the fisheries wing, the TRS government allotted Rs 100 cr for their welfare, he said. Efforts are on to increase ex-gratia to Rs 6 lakh from Rs 1 lakh to deceased families of fishermen. Srinivas Yadav also said a plan is on cards to offer subsidy to the fishermen to make use of ready-made stalls each worth Rs 18,000 for the fish sale.
