Indian pugilist Nishant Dev defeated Christos Karaitis of Greece in the pre-quarterfinals in the men’s 71kg weight category at the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy. Nishant won the match by a unanimous 5:0 decision.

Next, the 23-year-old Indian boxer



will face Omari Jones of the USA in the quarter-finals today. A win there will ensure the Paris 2024 Olympics quota for Nishant. 

Nishant stands as the sole Indian boxer remaining from the nine who entered the competition.
