Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan may step into the world of football as rumours suggest that he is set to buy stakes in iconic Indian club Mohun Bagan.

Shahrukh Khan already has a very close association with Bengal. He is the brand ambassador of the state and also owns Kolkata-based IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
As reported, Three I-League giants Bengaluru FC, Mohun Bagan and their arch-rivals East Bengal are all set to join the Indian Super League ( ISL ) from next season.
AIFF are planning to make the ISL the main league of the country by adding the three I-League giants and making it an 11-team affair.
Mohun Bagan at the moment are running without a major shirt sponsor. Since last season, they ended their ties with McDowell owned by Liquor Baron Vijay Mallya.
If reports are to be believed

then, the much-famed film star is all set to buy stakes at the 'National Club of India' as they plan to join the ISL.
A source was quoted saying: 'Talks have been on since the last 7-8 months and that is where we are. There is nothing concrete, but if not this season, then ISL 5 could certainly see some big changes in the teams and people involved.'
Mohun Bagan official and financial secretary Debabrata Sarkar too gave positive response and told a regional newspaper that talks are going on.
It will be a huge boost for Indian football if the three giants from I-League merge into the ISL and form a new longer league with the presence of the film fraternity.
Shahrukh Khan's association with one of India's oldest and most prestigious clubs will be huge boost for the game in this country as well as for the century-old club.
