Defending champions India thrashed Bangladesh by 129 runs in the opening match of the T20 cricket World Cup for the Blind in New Delhi yesterday. Electing to bat after winning the toss, India posted a mammoth 279 runs for the loss of just five wickets. In reply, Bangladesh could only muster 150 runs for the loss of seven wickets. 
In the second game of the opening day, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 10 wickets.Sent in to bat, New Zealand scored 112 runs from their 20 overs. Pakistan overwhelmed the target by scoring 117 in just 7.2 overs.Five matches are scheduled for today. India will take on the West Indies at



Faridabad Nahar Singh Stadium. In other games to be played at different venues in Delhi, Pakistan will face England, Nepal will meet Australia, Bangladesh will play against South Africa, while Sri Lanka are pitted against New Zealand. 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed all the ten participating teams in New Delhi yesterday. Extending best wishes to all the sides, he said the competition hosted by India will popularise cricket among the visually-handicapped. While the matches are being held in different cities, the final is scheduled to be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 12.
