Folk singer booked for rape and cheating

Folk singer Yeddula Janga Reddy was booked for allegedly raping and cheating a 27-year-old singer. The woman, who used to work in Reddy's team, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he had promised to marry her and had sex with her. She said that he had forced her to undergo abortion thrice in the past.

The victim, a divorcee, had approached Gandhinagar police seeking action against Reddy. “After she got divorced from her husband, the victim, a folk singer, had joined Reddy's band. She was then lured by Reddy with marriage promise. She was also



promised a good career,” said a police official from Gandhinagar police station.

The victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Reddy many times. “She also said she became pregnant three times and he had forced her to undergo abortion in various hospitals in the city. When she asked about his promise to marry her he started avoiding her,” said the official. The victim demanded the arrest of Reddy immediately as otherwise Reddy might leave the country. Police booked a case against Yeddula Janga Reddy for alleged rape and cheating.
